Notes on Data Call, 12/12/07

Attending: Ann, Raj, John, Andrew, Nick, Dan

We discussed John's slides that summarized the outcome of the last F2F meeting

The scheduling/queueing layer needs access to information about both the source and destination of the transfer

Question is where this layer is and which group (ANL or ISI) is responsible for developing it

Andrew raised issue of providing semantics for enforcing policies; these are curently missing

Raj suggested that we leverage work being done by Gaurav at OSU for advertising the properties of GridFTP servers and for doing scheduling

Agreed to a follow-on call on 12/14/07 that includes Rob

Also discussed interest of Arie Shoshani's SRM Center in some new features of GridFTP, including GridFTP with ssh and small file optimizations

Will schedule a follow-up meeting with Arie's group
