Logging best practices doc discussion

• Jen has passed to Joe Bester for comments on the Globus side, and work estimates
• Dan asked for changes add explicit namespace field: eg: ns=name.space event=local.name
  • Agreement broken into pieces make s sense, no one knows which is best
  • Action Item: Dan to ask Martin Swany to look over doc and comment on separate namespace field
  • Action Item: Dan to edit document to reflect this change

• Laura’s edits on AA section
  • Great starting point for discussion, Partial success messages would be really useful – have start end for overall, but also partial status
  • Action Item: Laura to make a 2nd pass to add explicit start/end events

How to get application buy-in, and when is it the right time?

• Need to know when the Globus stuff is ready
• We can approach OSG and ESG about deployment of syslog-NG ahead of time
  • Jen will mention on ESG and OSG calls
    • action item: Brian/Dan will prepare a couple slides on syslog-ng

Adding NetLogger to GridFTP

• Dan working on prototype
• Action Item: Jen to start discussion with GridFTP folks about how to do this

OSG meeting upcoming

• do we fit in to this meeting? maybe maybe not
• suggest some time to talk about central logging – include in slides for Jen and EB
