Condor Week Mops Presentation May 2007
Status/Action items as of July 5, 2007:
- A MOPS document is being circulated, John to provide comments/status and post to the Wiki.
- Need to commit to a date for having MOPS 1.0 completed and available for distribution.
- GridFTP has the APIs included and is ready for integration with NeST
- Nest should be ready for integration by mid next-week. It will not have all the features but should be stable. The additional features should be complete within a couple of weeks from that time. (Nick)
- Will make plans for testing next week.
- When can we target the technology for inclusion in the VDT?
Agenda for July 19/20, 2007, MOPS discussion at Fermi (in progress)
- MOPS API working document has been posted.
- Testing has occurred with Nest & GridFTP. Need status update.
- Several errors were found & corrected in GridFTP.
- Next steps including plans for testing & target date for MOPS 1.0 release
- Any other issues that need to be discussed
- Additionally, per the last meeting and discussion we agreed that GridFTP should eventually be able to advertise itself and its state. We need to discuss what state variables are needed for a higher level scheduling service to utilize it.

- Document to start circulating (Dan)

- Once code is stable, a snapshot will be handed to Mike & John (July 27)
- Goal is to have nightly & on-demand testing of LotMan GridFTP++ combo
- Plan to integrate Metronome
- Nick's team still developing (to be completed by Aug 3)
- Build more on ACL Plugin (error handling)
- Finish fsck tool
- Finish performance metrics (hoe many operations/sec it can sustain)
- Complete API documentation
- How should we package the MOPS product?
- Plan is to incorporate it in the Globus installer.
- Will need to decide on a name "GridFTP-XYZ" "GridFTP ++"
- What data elements should GridFTP export
- Trying to make a managed service that people are happy with is very difficult.
- As a first cut, perhaps the thing to export is the status of GridFTP
- Is it happily running?
- Is it dropping files?
- What is the average transfer speed?
- We need to revisit this topic.
